Thursday 03/11/10, NYCACC reps picked up another 20 cases of cat food plus toys, carriers, and treats and coats                                                                       (Thank you Ginny Fulton for donating the toys, bags and coats).

Thursday 03/04/10,  NYCACC reps picked up a total of 50 cases of cat food,  4/25# bags of litter - several bags of towels and cat toys.  We will have another 12 -15 cases of cat food for them today. I would like to thank the following people for making donations toward the cat food.  Lorraine Sakli (fellow FOAR member), Heike Klassman, Heather Dell, Allison Parker, Shari Bryan & Lisa Giordano (Lisa, your donation bought 26 cases of cat food - amazing!).

NYCACC is still in need of towels, canned Dog food, canned cat food and  litter....Thank you everyone for continuing to help....ADOPT - ADOPT - ADOPT

02/25/10

Today at 10am  NYCACC reps were at Petropolis to pick up 80 cases of canned dog food, 1 case of cat food and 1 bag filled with treats, and leashes. I want to thank the following people for donating money, food and treats this week: Lisa Cross all the way from Palm Spring California, Sharon Siodmak (fellow friends of animal rescue member), Sherry Reisch, Katya Monnet & Bonnie, Tasha Rais and sweet Aya, Andrea Singer, Toby Gettelman, Noelle Bailey (your donation will be put toward the purchase of cat food which will be going to ACC next week), Ilse Singer, Peter from C&K distributors and a special thank you to Ira from Fauna foods in Elmhurst - thank you so much for donating and delivering the food you promised (this is in additions to the 80 cases) to ACC 110th st for the animals.

Unfortunately the problem of lack of funds and the inability of the organization (NYCACC/DOH) to allocate funds properly will not go away over night. Please call the Mayors office, call the DOH and ask how and where money is being allocated - ask about the ACC ventilation system still in flux.  It is time for us to speak up because the most innocent are suffering and it is hidden below our noses.

Will there be more cuts for ACC? there is no more room for cut backs - medical care for the animals is  already at the bare minimum.

Please everyone if you are considering a pet please ADOPT and remember 99% of the animals sold in pet stores come from puppy mills (per the ASPCA). ADOPT  - ADOPT - ADOPT from ACC and your local rescue groups that have the tough job of pulling the sick and neglected animals from the city shelters and bringing hope back into their lives.  Donate to www.friendsofanimalrescue.com who supports the rescuers.

Now we need to get Cat food any donation will go toward the purchase of cat food this week.

Please, pass on! CRISIS at Animal Care and Control! Food donations needed
It seems that New York City's Department of Health believes that food for the city's 40,000 stray and abandoned animals is a luxury, and in a dramatic slash of the budget for Animal Care and Control, the agency contracted to house these unfortunate souls, all CANNED, soft food is no longer provided except by donation. This means that the seniors, young dogs, and nursing mothers are getting dry kibble soaked in water or dry kibble plain and presented as is.

No one at ACC WANTS this--the budget was imposed on them-and they are working overtime to bring in corporate donations of both cash and goods. But, in the meantime, we need your help!

Please consider donating canned dog food to our city's neediest animals. These poor creatures arrive by the dozens each day---victims of cruelty, neglect, and circumstance. They have almost nothing to look forward to in the days or weeks they'll remain at the city shelter, and too many of them will never see the inside of a home again.

If you are able and willing to help, I guarantee that your donation will go directly to those who need you the most. You can drop off the canned doggie food we are currently OUT of (as in, none!! and will run out of cat food shortly)--as well as any blankets, treats, cat food, cat toys, small towels/cage comforters, and "adopt me" vests to the following locations:

AC&C — Manhattan Animal Care Center
326 East 110th Street
New York, NY 10029
(between 1st and 2nd Avenues)

Development Department
Animal Care & Control of New York City
11 Park Place, Suite 805
New York, NY 10007

AC&C — Brooklyn Animal Care Center
2336 Linden Boulevard
Brooklyn, NY 11208

AC&C — Staten Island Animal Care Center
3139 Veterans Road West
Staten Island, NY 10309

THANK YOU! I know this is a frustrating time for all of us, but these animals did not ask for their fate, and they have only our kindness to rely on. Please, pass this message on!

UPDATE, UPDATE!!
Petropolis, one of New York's best and most knowledgeable pet supply stores, will give a 5 percent discount for every can purchased for donation to ACC. Food can then be left at the store and she will deliver to the shelter. The owner is one amazing woman and a champion for animals!! Please, show your love for NYC's animals and the people who support our beloved strays!
